Awesome Sports Logos – it’s pretty much all in the name. With a love for sports logos but a frustration with the average, politically correct logo, Gavin Spittle founded Awesome Sports Logos to bring back fun and creativity to sports team logo design. Designing for fictional teams gives the team at Awesome Sports Logos the luxury of creativity without restrictions, and the end results certainly live up to the ‘Awesome’ name.
They currently feature 35 original, fictional sports team logos, as well as 5 real Panamanian Basketball logos! Our feature image (above) showcases the Albuquerque Chupacabras T-Shirt, as you can see, they are high quality designs, with a lot of polish. Here are a few more of our favorites:
More awesomeness! The Las Vegas Snake Eyes T-Shirt, the Texas Roadkill T-Shirt and the Tequila Worms T-Shirt.
Creative Process
Gavin shared some insight into the creative process behind Awesome Sports Logos:
“I think city history is fascinating and each city has hidden gems. In that history or information, something will hit you and you run with it. Other times, I’ll find funny names like Kumquats and Chiweenies. Those just make me laugh and Dade City has a Kumquat festival each January and we all know about the small dog carrying contingent in Beverly Hills so it makes sense. I love taking objects and creating logos out of them. Who would have thought a Kumquat could look so cool or a Chiweenie that vicious. Do some have multiple meanings, sure they do but they all have history in that town minus the Cocksville Blockers. That is our only fictional city but the name was too good to pass up.”
